Vitamin C Against Sun Damage.

What Is Skin Damage?

Sun damage is what happens when the skin is overexposed to the sun’s UV rays. The UV rays can penetrate the skin even in the deepest layers and cause changes to DNA at the cellular level. By affecting everything from the surface of the skin to the very depths of it, UV rays are able to negatively affect the aging process of the skin and, in some cases, lead to cancer.

The tricky part about sun damage is that you can’t always see it in a way that would make you think. Many signs of sun damage take a bit to fully reach the surface of the skin (which can seem confusing given UV rays hit the surface. It can take years for sun damage to become visible because of the depth at which the UV rays damage skin cells.

Visible signs of sun damage include spots, wrinkles, fine lines, loss of elasticity, and an uneven skin tone or texture.

Good news is, sun damage is manageable. Feel confident that you know how to fix (and prevent) sun-damaged skin.

A Popular fix is;

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to combat the formation of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles that result from exposure to UV rays. By applying vitamin C, you’ll be able to revitalize your complexion and slowly reverse the effects of sun damage.

A lot of products have taken that step to add in Vitamin C as a primary ingredient.

See some examples that we stock below.

Acnes C10 Serum

Uncover I am Brilliant Sheet masks

Garnier micellar water with Vitamin C

Dr.Organic Guava serum with Advanced Vitamin C

As with any topical skincare product, you’ll need to give vitamin C formulations a few weeks to really show what they can offer.

Don’t forget your sunscreen. A combined effort is more effective than one!
